Icelandic Quality Assurance Lead (Remote Contractor)

About the role

This remote, hourly contractor position is for an Icelandic Quality Assurance Lead who will oversee quality, consistency, and trainer performance across Icelandic AI training projects. You will review AI‑generated Icelandic content, evaluate output against detailed rubrics, and provide precise written feedback to ensure high‑quality, culturally appropriate training data.

Key responsibilities

• Spot‑check Icelandic items, identify quality issues, and provide ongoing feedback through Discord direct messages.
• Update trainers and QAs on new guidelines, project changes, workflow updates, and quality expectations.
• Respond promptly to trainer/QA questions regarding Icelandic wording, grammar, register, cultural context, and edge cases.
• Activate and manage inactive contributors, encouraging consistent participation and tracking follow‑ups.
• Create and maintain project documentation such as style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, and onboarding materials.
• Schedule and conduct onboarding/training calls to explain project expectations, rubrics, and Icelandic‑specific style requirements.
• Ensure consistent application of Icelandic language guidelines across the team and propose workflow improvements.

Required profile

• Native or near‑native proficiency in Icelandic with strong reading and writing skills.
• Excellent command of English for following guidelines and providing feedback.
• 3+ years of professional experience in Icelandic writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, or related language‑review workflows.
• Deep understanding of Icelandic grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, register, declensions, case agreement, and cultural context.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, or QAs is strongly preferred.
• Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project‑management systems.
