AI Safety Specialist (Remote, $60–$70/hr)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced AI Safety Specialist to join our remote team on a contract basis. You will help ensure that AI‑generated content meets the highest standards of safety, factual accuracy, and policy compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate AI‑generated responses for safety, factual correctness, and alignment with policy guidelines.
• Review content that involves misinformation, political persuasion, self‑harm, violence, cyber threats, biosecurity, and other high‑risk domains.
• Apply and refine evaluation rubrics for RLHF, SFT, and AI safety benchmarking.
• Identify unsafe outputs, hallucinations, reasoning failures, and policy violations.
• Provide structured feedback to improve model alignment and safety performance.
• Collaborate with AI researchers and safety teams on ongoing evaluation initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline (e.g., Journalism, Computer Science, Public Policy, Biology, etc.).
• 5+ years of professional experience in AI safety, trust & safety, journalism, public policy, scientific research, or related fields.
• Excellent written English, strong critical‑thinking and analytical reasoning abilities.
• Proven ability to evaluate nuanced, policy‑sensitive scenarios consistently.

Required skills

• AI safety evaluation methodologies (RLHF, SFT).
• Experience with safety policies, content moderation, and rubric development.
• Familiarity with high‑risk content review.
