Technical Director

About the role

Fenris Creations is seeking a Technical Director to lead the technical direction of Core Technology and CARBON — Fenris Creations's shared game development platform spanning engine runtime, rendering, graphics, tools, pipelines, and developer experience. In this role, you will set the technical direction for CARBON, ensuring it evolves as a high‑leverage, modern platform that creates meaningful value for game teams across Fenris Creations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical direction for CARBON across runtime, graphics, rendering, tools, pipelines, and shared developer technology.
• Collaborate with the Senior Development Director of Core Technology to translate product vision into clear technical strategy and execution.
• Lead and develop technical leaders across Graphics, Runtime, and Tools, strengthening quality, alignment, and team growth.
• Provide architectural guidance ensuring performance, scalability, maintainability, and a strong developer experience.
• Guide adoption of AI‑assisted development in practical, high‑value ways.
• Shape CARBON's open‑source direction to increase platform leverage and long‑term relevance.

Required profile

• Significant senior technical leadership experience in game development.
• Deep game engine expertise across runtime systems, rendering or graphics, and developer tooling.
• Proven ability to define technical direction and align multiple teams around a coherent engineering vision.
• People leadership experience with senior engineers, technical leads, or engineering managers.
• Conviction in the value of AI‑assisted and open‑source development, applied strategically and practically.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
