Commercial Director – Data Centre (Site-Based, Europe)

About the role
We are supporting a leading data‑centre developer in Europe to appoint a Commercial Director for a major hyperscale data‑centre project. This senior, site‑based position will drive commercial and contractual performance across the full project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Provide senior commercial and contractual leadership from procurement through construction, commissioning, hand‑over and final account.
- Administer and manage FIDIC and NEC contracts, handling notices, variations, payments, claims, compensation events and determinations.
- Lead assessment and negotiation of EOT, disruption, prolongation and acceleration claims.
- Protect the employer’s commercial position and oversee cost management, forecasting, cash flow, risk and contingency reporting.
- Negotiate with major contractors, consultants and supply‑chain partners; develop procurement and commercial strategies for MEP, critical power, cooling and specialist packages.
- Establish robust commercial governance, change control and contract‑management processes.
- Coordinate with project controls, planning, construction, commissioning, procurement, finance and legal teams.
- Resolve variations, claims, compensation events and commercial disputes; manage final account negotiations and project close‑out.
- Provide senior commercial advice to the Project Director and wider leadership team.
Required profile
- 20‑25+ years of commercial, contract‑management or quantity‑surveying experience.
- Proven track record as Commercial Director, Senior Commercial Manager or Commercial Lead on large‑scale data‑centre, mission‑critical or MEP‑intensive projects.
- Extensive experience administering FIDIC and/or NEC contracts and managing claims, variations and compensation events.
- Strong understanding of MEP, critical power, cooling, electrical infrastructure and specialist systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high‑value, multi‑contractor environments with robust cost control and financial management.
- Excellent contractual writing, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Fluent English and willingness to work site‑based.
