Senior Commercial Manager – Data Centre Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to provide strategic commercial leadership for a large‑scale data‑centre development in Iceland. The position is permanent, site‑based and operates under FIDIC contract terms, covering the full project lifecycle from procurement to hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial management across the entire project lifecycle, from procurement and contract award through construction, commissioning, hand‑over, final account and defects liability.
• Administer FIDIC‑based main contracts, ensuring compliance with procedural, notice, payment and variation requirements.
• Provide senior contractual advice on commercial strategy, risk allocation and entitlement.
• Manage variations, change orders, engineer’s instructions and integrate them with cost forecasts.
• Assess contractor claims, counter‑claims, extensions of time and disruption claims using contemporary records and delay analysis.
• Establish and maintain commercial governance tools such as contract registers, claim trackers and payment logs.
• Oversee cost management and forecasting for major work packages, aligning budgets, cash flow and risk exposure.
• Support procurement strategy for construction, MEP, specialist systems and long‑lead equipment, ensuring enforceable tender documents.
• Prepare contractual correspondence, notices and commercial reports to a defensible, auditable standard.
• Lead negotiations with contractors, consultants and supply‑chain partners while preserving contractual rights.

Required profile

• 15+ years of commercial, contract management or quantity surveying experience on large‑scale construction, infrastructure, industrial, mission‑critical or data‑centre projects.
• Proven senior responsibility for managing complex contracts and claims.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification.
