Technical Director

About the role

Fenris Creations is looking for a Technical Director to steer the technical vision of its Core Technology and CARBON platform. The role combines hands‑on architecture work with leadership of senior engineers across graphics, runtime and tools, ensuring the platform delivers high‑leverage value to game teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical direction of CARBON across runtime, rendering, graphics, tools, pipelines and shared developer technology.
• Translate product vision and organisational priorities into clear technical strategy together with the Senior Development Director of Core Technology.
• Lead and develop technical leaders in Graphics, Runtime and Tools, fostering quality, alignment and team growth.
• Provide architectural guidance to guarantee performance, scalability, maintainability and an excellent developer experience.
• Champion practical AI‑assisted development to accelerate iteration and engineering effectiveness.
• Shape the open‑source strategy for CARBON to increase platform leverage and long‑term relevance.
• Communicate technical trade‑offs, risks and opportunities across the organisation.

Required profile

• Significant senior technical leadership experience in game development.
• Deep expertise in game engine runtime, rendering/graphics and developer tooling.
• Proven ability to define technical direction and align multiple teams around a coherent vision.
• People‑leadership experience managing senior engineers, technical leads or engineering managers.
• Strong conviction in AI‑assisted and open‑source development, applied strategically and practically.
• Pragmatic, growth‑oriented leadership style with a bias toward learning and experimentation.
