Electrical Designer – Data Center Infrastructure

About the role

Borealis Data Center is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented and hands-on Electrical Designer to support the development of its critical data center infrastructure. The designer develops electrical designs for new data centers, expansions and infrastructure upgrades, covering power distribution systems with a focus on reliability, redundancy, safety, maintainability and energy efficiency. The role works closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, contractors and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs for new data centers, expansions and upgrades
• Design medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems and other critical electrical infrastructure
• Prepare drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, calculations and other technical documentation
• Support equipment selection and ensure designs meet capacity, redundancy, reliability, safety and energy-efficiency requirements
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, architectural, civil, controls and fire-protection disciplines
• Take part in design reviews and resolve conflicts and interface issues
• Collaborate with teams, consultants, contractors and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and site inspections

Required profile

• Degree or technical qualification in electrical engineering, electrical design, building services engineering or a related field
• Experience designing electrical systems and critical power infrastructure for data centers or comparable mission-critical infrastructure
• Experience coordinating electrical designs across disciplines and stakeholders
• Hands-on experience applying designs in construction or operational environments
• Strong communication skills in English; Icelandic is an advantage

Required skills

• BIM and CAD tools such as Revit, AutoCAD or Navisworks
• Knowledge of electrical regulations, technical standards and requirements for reliability, redundancy, maintainability and safety
