Postdoctoral Fellow – Statistical Genetics and Artificial Intelligence

About the role

This four‑year postdoctoral fellowship focuses on developing and applying innovative statistical and AI methods to large‑scale human genetic and biomedical datasets. The fellow will work within Amgen deCODE genetics, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to generate insights that drive drug target discovery and precision medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research at the intersection of statistical genetics and artificial intelligence.
• Develop and apply statistical, computational, and machine‑learning methods for analysis of population‑scale genomic and phenotypic data.
• Contribute to genetic analysis workflows and improve analytical methods across Amgen deCODE genetics.
• Collaborate with scientists in human genetics, bioinformatics, AI, and therapeutic discovery.
• Present findings and publish results in peer‑reviewed journals.

Required profile

• PhD completed prior to start date in Statistics, Human Genetics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Strong record of scientific achievement demonstrated through peer‑reviewed publications and presentations.
• Experience analyzing large‑scale human genetic, genomic, or high‑dimensional biomedical datasets.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and C/C++.
• Familiarity with statistical modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques.
• Experience working in Linux environments and with high‑performance computing.
