Icelandic Language Specialist (Remote Contractor)

About the role

In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as an Icelandic Language Specialist (SME) to review AI‑generated Icelandic content and create high‑quality reference material, providing detailed feedback to improve AI models.

Key responsibilities

• Create prompts and gold‑standard Icelandic answers across multiple domains.
• Evaluate and rank AI outputs for fluency, correctness, tone, and cultural appropriateness.
• Detect unsafe, misleading, or biased content and ensure factual accuracy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Linguistics, Icelandic/English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or equivalent experience.
• Native or near‑native Icelandic proficiency and strong English (C1) for feedback.
• 3+ years of professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, or education.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of Icelandic grammar, style, and registers.
• Ability to spot subtle meaning shifts, hallucinated claims, and culturally mismatched phrasing.
• Experience with AI data training/annotation or rubric‑based evaluation (preferred).
