Seafood Auditor – Chain of Custody (Independent Contractor)

About the role

NSF is seeking experienced Seafood Auditors to conduct Chain of Custody assessments for MSC, CSI, MarinTrust and related standards in Iceland. As an independent contractor you will help ensure seafood products meet international sustainability and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and execute Chain of Custody audits in line with MSC, CSI, MarinTrust and other relevant schemes.
• Evaluate client systems for compliance, identify gaps and recommend improvements.
• Prepare detailed audit reports, non‑conformity notices and follow‑up documentation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of scheme requirements and support internal calibration sessions.
• Participate in witness audits, peer reviews and meet accreditation body expectations.

Required profile

• Degree in Science, Food, Business, Economics or a technical discipline.
• Lead auditor certification (ISO 19011 or equivalent) and HACCP qualification.
• Minimum 3 years auditing experience in Chain of Custody or related food‑supply‑chain schemes.
• Proven knowledge of MSC, CSI, MarinTrust standards; advanced qualification in at least one is a plus.
• Fluent English; Icelandic and additional languages are advantageous.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
