Tomato Preparation Operator

About the role

The Tomato Preparation Operator processes tomatoes in cans, drums, totes and paste, and blends starch and gums as required. The role ensures strict traceability through lot coding and supports food safety and quality standards in a fast‑paced production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Read and comprehend product recipes, applying knowledge of container weights and capacities.
• Apply the traceability program by lot coding all batches and tracking lot codes.
• Perform CIP (clean‑in‑place) on tanks and hook up process lines for CIP operations.
• Communicate with batch makers to ensure correct tote assignment for recipes, allergens and traceability.
• Work under pressure while multitasking and maintain clean, sanitized equipment and processing areas.
• Follow all safety, quality and regulatory procedures (SQF, GMP, OSHA, etc.).

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Frequent lifting of up to 100 lb and pushing/pulling items up to 500 lb.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and work in extreme temperatures (above 110 °F or below –20 °F).
• Basic math, reading and writing skills; fluent English reading and writing.
• Physical dexterity to reach with hands and arms, and ability to bend and go under conveyors.

Required skills

• Forklift operation (certification is a plus).
• CIP tank operation and process line hookup.
• Blending of starch and gums.
• Lot code tracking and recipe interpretation.
