Steward – Hotel Food & Beverage Operations

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Steward to join our hospitality team at EDITION Hotels in Reykjavik. You will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe kitchen and dining environment, supporting the food and beverage operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain dishwashing machines, hand‑wash stations, pot‑scrubbing stations and trash compactors.
• Wash, disinfect and sanitize kitchen tools, knives, equipment, tables and storage areas.
• Receive deliveries, store perishables correctly, rotate stock and ensure clean wares are stored appropriately.
• Use detergents, rinsing and sanitising chemicals in a three‑compartment sink to clean dishes, inspect and re‑wash items as needed.
• Break down dirty bus tubs, empty trashcans, clean and mop assigned areas, and manage recycling.
• Follow all company safety, security and quality policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.

Required profile

• Ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects up to 50 lb without assistance.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, twist and reach for extended periods.
• Clear, professional communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude.
• Commitment to adhering to hygiene standards and safety procedures.

Required skills

• Operation of commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and sanitising procedures.
• Basic stock handling and inventory rotation.
