Manager, Reservations Sales

About the role

This full-time, management-level position is responsible for soliciting and managing reservations sales opportunities, training and assigning work to Reservations Sales staff, and driving revenue and customer loyalty. It is based in Reykjavik.

Key responsibilities

• Identify new reservations sales business to meet personal and property revenue goals, understand the market and competitors, and close the best opportunities
• Monitor same-day selling procedures to maximise room revenue and control occupancy
• Respond to reservations opportunities outside the Event Booking Center, negotiate contracts and use sales resources and support staff effectively
• Assist in monitoring group reservation forecasts, coordinate with sales and Convention Services on rooming lists and reservation cards, and execute proposals, contracts and customer correspondence
• Track no-show reservations, check daily arrivals for billing instructions, manage the wait list and prepare work and maintenance orders
• Deliver service excellence throughout the customer experience, recommend suitable features and services, handle guest complaints and disputes, and build account share
• Monitor reservations sales agents on phone calls, run a departmental orientation and on-the-job training programme, and create monthly labour schedules
• Use the intranet for resources and information, and create contracts as required

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, with no work experience required
• Or a 2-year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management or a related major, with 2 years of experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk or a related field
