General Manager - Reykjavik EDITION Hotel

About the role

The Reykjavik EDITION is a downtown Reykjavik hotel set against mountain views on the Old Harbour, next to Harpa and close to Laugavegur. It offers 253 rooms, restaurants and bars, meeting spaces and a social spa. The General Manager position is full-time and management level, based in Reykjavik.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute business plans that maximise customer satisfaction, profitability and market share, translating Marriott's global strategy into property action and holding the leadership team accountable.
• Work with Sales and Marketing to generate revenue, pursue leads and align the property strategy with brand goals.
• Build a high-performance Executive Committee, coach it, create development plans, build succession plans and support staffing.
• Analyse market share, financial performance, inventory, employee engagement and customer satisfaction to stay within budget and hit profit targets.
• Verify fair treatment of employees, appropriate pay and benefits, and work with Human Resources on engagement.
• Collaborate with Revenue Management on pricing, demand forecasting, occupancy and RevPAR, while controlling labour and capital costs.
• Maintain strong relationships with property owners, keeping them informed of brand initiatives and performance data.
• Gather guest feedback, promote the property's image locally and anticipate the needs of large groups and high-profile guests.
• Ensure compliance with legal, safety, operations, labour and Marriott brand standards, run quality assurance audits and keep the building, kitchen and grounds well maintained.

Required profile

• Preferred: general manager experience in a limited or full-service property.
• Property industry experience showing progressive career growth and exceptional performance.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays and late nights.
