Junior ABS Specialist

About the role

Alcoa is looking for a motivated Junior ABS Specialist to support the implementation and development of the Alcoa Business System (ABS) for a one‑year assignment. You will work closely with operational teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure effective use of ABS tools.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the operations area in deploying the ABS framework, focusing on the Operator‑Centric work model.
• Maintain and support the Digital Daily Management System (DMS) and conduct Value Stream Mapping (VSM) activities.
• Facilitate the rollout of RACI responsibility matrices and structured problem‑solving methods.
• Identify improvement opportunities (IDhall), promote continuous improvement, and monitor ABS tool usage.
• Lead the creation and review of A3 problem‑solving reports and guide teams through root‑cause analysis.
• Support production‑increase projects, business analyses, and KPI tracking.
• Develop and standardise work instructions, process maps (SIPOC), and reporting systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical, mechanical, electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience in training, coaching, and leading teams with improvement tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a very good command of English.
• Analytical mindset and ability to produce clear technical reports.

Required skills

• Lean tools: 5 Whys, cause‑and‑effect analysis, SIPOC, RACI, A3 problem solving.
• Process mapping and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
• Digital Daily Management System (DMS) and IDhall methodology.
• Power BI for data visualisation.
• Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
