Senior Electronics Software Engineer

About the role

JBT Marel is looking for a passionate Electronics Software Engineer to join its Weighing and Electronic Hardware team in Garðabær, Iceland. You will work on the full lifecycle of advanced electronic modules and controllers that power food‑processing equipment worldwide, turning concepts into real machines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and support electronic modules and controllers.
• Write firmware in C/C++ for real‑time operating systems.
• Contribute to circuit‑board design and hardware schematics.
• Integrate field‑bus technologies such as EtherCAT and CANopen.
• Collaborate with manufacturing vendors to ensure high‑quality production.
• Support internal stakeholders and ensure solutions meet user requirements.
• Participate in all product‑lifecycle stages from concept through deployment.
• Continuously improve processes and share knowledge within the Agile team.

Required profile

• A degree in electronics, software engineering, mechatronics or a related technical field.
• Strong interest or experience in firmware development using C/C++.
• Familiarity with electronics design and circuit‑board development.
• Understanding of serial communication protocols and sensor technologies.
• Ability to work on‑site in an Agile, collaborative environment.
