Visitor Operations Supervisor

About the role

Join a unique sanctuary dedicated to giving retired beluga whales a second chance at life. As the Visitor Operations Supervisor you will lead the front‑of‑house team, ensuring every guest experiences the whales’ story while maintaining smooth, safe, and financially sound operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee admissions, guided tours, retail and overall visitor experience.
• Coach, schedule and support the admissions team, handling guest complaints with care.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to the site and visitor journey.
• Manage financial administration including purchase orders, reconciliations and petty cash.
• Maintain office efficiency and act as Health & Safety Champion, updating risk assessments and leading the annual safety plan.
• Report to the General Manager and sit on the sanctuary’s Leadership team, collaborating with the Curator and Marketing & Fundraising Executive.
• Provide regular weekend, bank‑holiday and on‑call coverage as part of a roster.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading visitor operations in an attraction, zoo, aquarium or tourism setting.
• Track record of managing teams and delivering excellent customer service.
• Comfort with financial admin and health & safety systems.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities, able to juggle competing priorities.
• Nice‑to‑have: experience with Bokun booking systems, First Aid qualification, Icelandic language skills.
