Legal SME – AI Training Contractor (Remote, Hourly)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Attorney/Lawyer to join our AI data services team as a Subject Matter Expert. Working remotely on an hourly contract, you will evaluate and improve AI‑generated legal content, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Create gold‑standard legal outputs such as issue analyses, drafting examples, checklists, policies, and memos.
• Evaluate, rank, and provide feedback on AI responses to enhance correctness, clarity, defensibility, and risk awareness.
• Test AI outputs for inaccuracies, over‑confidence, confidentiality risks, and bias across diverse legal scenarios.
• Fact‑check legal concepts, verify citations, and write clear model answers that demonstrate proper legal reasoning.

Required profile

• JD/LLB (or equivalent) with active bar membership (or eligibility) in at least one jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of professional legal practice in any setting (law firm, in‑house, government, or legal aid).
• Proven ability to spot issues, structure analysis (rule → application → conclusion), and identify assumptions and uncertainties.
• Experience in one or more practice areas such as contracts, employment, privacy, corporate, litigation, IP, real estate, or compliance.

Required skills

• Advanced legal research and synthesis of primary authority (statutes, regulations, cases).
• High‑level drafting and editing of contracts, memos, policies, pleadings, and related documents.
• Exceptional attention to detail for fact‑checking and identifying procedural or jurisdictional pitfalls.
• Minimum C1 proficiency in English.
