Registered Nurse – PACU (PRN) – Per Diem

About the role

This position provides per‑diem nursing care in a same‑day surgery setting, focusing on post‑operative patients in the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The RN will work independently while collaborating with physicians and other departments to ensure safe recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the provision of nursing care to same‑day surgery patients.
• Assume total responsibility for patient care according to physician orders and center policies.
• Monitor and control the use and charging of supplies.
• Administer medications and treatments ordered by physicians, documenting all actions.
• Assess pain and nausea, providing appropriate medication.
• Discharge post‑operative patients following facility policies.
• Maintain patient and employee privacy and confidentiality.
• Provide psychological support to patients and families.
• Maintain supplies, cleanliness, and equipment in the work environment.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Preferred minimum of 2 years PACU/ASC experience.
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.

Required skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
• Medication administration according to physician orders.
• Patient assessment for pain, nausea, and post‑operative status.
