Reservations Sales Manager

About the role

The Reservations Sales Manager at a Marriott property in Reykjavik is responsible for soliciting and managing reservations sales opportunities, training and assigning work to the Reservations Sales team, and driving revenue and customer loyalty. The role also covers monitoring agents on call, creating contracts and scheduling the team.

Key responsibilities

• Identify new reservations sales business and close the best opportunities based on market conditions and property needs
• Monitor same-day selling procedures to maximise room revenue and control occupancy
• Respond to reservations opportunities outside the Event Booking Center and negotiate contracts
• Coordinate with sales and Convention Services to process rooming lists and reservation cards, and support proposals, contracts and customer correspondence
• Track no-show reservations, check daily arrivals for billing instructions and manage the wait list
• Provide exceptional customer service, handle guest complaints and disputes, and build customer loyalty
• Train new hires, use on-the-job training tools, monitor agents on phone calls and create monthly labour schedules
• Create contracts as required and use the intranet for resources and information

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, with no work experience required
• Or a 2-year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management or a related major, plus 2 years of experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk or a related field
