Cost Controller – Data Centre Project

About the role

The Cost Controller will join the Project Management Team on a fast‑track hyperscale data centre construction site. You will be responsible for real‑time cost visibility, budget control, and commercial risk management throughout the design‑build contract under the FIDIC Yellow Book.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the project cost baseline, cost breakdown structure and funding allocations aligned with contract and procurement strategy.
• Track actual, committed, accrued and forecast costs against the approved baseline, maintaining a live site cost control file.
• Identify cost variances, scope creep, acceleration costs and other exposures early and escalate to the Project Manager and Commercial lead.
• Prepare weekly cost snapshots and monthly Estimate at Completion (EAC) reports using risk‑adjusted scenarios.
• Support funding drawdowns, cost‑to‑complete forecasts, contingency reviews and scenario planning for rapid decision‑making.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms, Employer’s Requirements, change control procedures and corporate governance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cost control for large‑scale construction projects, preferably data centre or hyperscale infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC Yellow Book design‑build contracts and commercial risk management.
• Ability to work on‑site in a fast‑track environment, handling multiple cost streams and interfaces.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and early variance detection.
