Head of Discipline HVAC

About the role

COWI Iceland is looking for an experienced HVAC leader to head a strong team of specialists working on diverse building, industrial and energy projects. The role combines technical expertise, people leadership and strategic development of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Daily management of the HVAC department, including staffing, development plans and workload distribution.
• Lead, support and develop department staff to maximise their strengths and achieve project success.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships together with other COWI managers.
• Coordinate cross‑department collaboration on national and international projects.
• Oversee project execution, design reviews, contract negotiations, cost and schedule planning, and post‑project follow‑up.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent in engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in HVAC design and analysis.
• Proven experience in management, project leadership or a similar leadership role.
• Fluent in Icelandic and English, both spoken and written.
• Proactive attitude, strong communication skills and organized, independent work style.

Required skills

• Thermal and fluid analysis.
• System and 3‑D design for HVAC installations.
• Building Information Modeling (BIM) for HVAC systems.
• Project management and cost estimation.
