Project Director – Data Centre

About the role

The Project Director will lead the delivery of a 100 MW hyperscale data centre in Iceland, overseeing the project from pre‑construction through to completion. This senior position requires close collaboration with the client, consultants, the main contractor and a wide supply‑chain network.

Key responsibilities

• Lead overall delivery of the 100 MW data centre project.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership across the project team.
• Manage interfaces with the main contractor, subcontractors and consultants.
• Drive programme, cost, quality and HSE performance.
• Oversee project risks, change control and commercial issues.
• Maintain client and stakeholder relationships and represent the business at key meetings.
• Monitor KPIs and take corrective actions to stay on schedule and budget.
• Ensure contractual obligations and governance requirements are met.
• Mentor and develop the wider project delivery team.
• Promote continuous improvement and embed lessons learned.

Required profile

• Significant experience as a Project Director, Construction Director or Senior Project Manager on major construction projects.
• Strong background with general/main contractors.
• Proven delivery of large‑scale, preferably hyperscale, data centre projects.
• Experience managing large construction teams and complex subcontractor interfaces.
• Strong commercial, contractual, programme and risk‑management capability.
• Experience handling demanding clients and multiple stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of HSE, quality and construction delivery.
• EU nationality and willingness to relocate to Iceland for full‑time onsite work.
• Experience in the Nordic construction market or other mission‑critical environments is a plus.
